The Hermes Standard, listed under IPC-HERMES-9852, is a modern machine-to-machine communication protocol customized for printed circuit board assembly lines. On the road to creating Industry 4.0 factories, the Hermes protocol is an elementary component which the previous SMEMA standard interface was not able to implement. Continuous use of the Hermes Standard enables greater automation of line controllers as well as consistent traceability of printed circuit boards. With Hermes SMEMA Connect, SICK is offering a scalable solution for retrofitting machines with SMEMA interface so that they can operate together with machines with Hermes interfaces in printed circuit board assembly lines.

SICK is a reliable partner for implementation of the Hermes Standard
With our Hermes Standard Solutions, we offer complete solutions that integrate your machines into the Hermes Standard. From consulting on the required components and installation to after-sales service, SICK provides you with all the products and services you need to plan and implement these solutions. You can either install them yourself after a short briefing, or one of the SICK global sales and service units can do it for you. We consult you at your site anywhere in the world to help you implement your individualized application solutions.
With the reliable and scalable Hermes Standard Solution from SICK, you can seamlessly integrate machines with SMEMA interfaces into printed circuit board assembly lines in which machines with Hermes interfaces also operate.
Intuitive user interface for flexible configuration
The Hermes Standard Solutions are based on the SensorApps from SICK. These can be flexibly configured for your application in an intuitive, web-based user interface. The SICK AppSpace eco-system makes adapting and extending the SensorApp functions to meet your specific requirements quick and easy. The solutions enable you to integrate SICK identification devices to capture board and magazine IDs and deliver this information to the Hermes protocol. This ensures traceability and transparency in your production processes.
Maximum flexibility and an intuitive operating concept makes it possible to equip a wide variety of machine types with the Hermes Standard.
